Working in collobaration with Waugh Thistleton Architects to fabricte a three dimensional flexible timber system out of fingerjointed American Tulipwood.
Every piece of American Tulipwood was individually graded to ensure the highest material quality before being precision finger-jointed into the lengths required for manufacture. This meticulous process maximised the use of the available timber, reducing waste while maintaining the structural integrity and visual consistency of the finished product.
The prepared sections were then delivered to BE-ST, where they were cross-laminated into large timber panels. These engineered panels formed the basis of the maze-like structure, demonstrating how innovative timber engineering and thoughtful material selection can transform a renewable natural resource into a complex architectural installation, while showcasing the versatility of mass timber construction and its potential for integration into contemporary homes and modern architectural design.
