Set within the 37-acre Cuningar Loop Woodland Park, The Bothy and Tùr were designed by jmarchitects as a new destination for the local community and visitors to the park. The project takes a deliberately light-touch approach to its woodland setting, working with the existing trees, topography and views across the River Clyde.
The Bothy provides a flexible base for community groups and activities, while the Tùr rises above the tree canopy to create an accessible viewing point across the park and towards Glasgow. A ramped timber walkway connects the two, creating a changing journey through the woodland and allowing visitors to experience the landscape from different levels.
Glenalmond Timber was involved in the project from supply through to installation, completing the full timber installation on site. All associated timber fixings were supplied by Rothoblaas, allowing the installation to be delivered as a complete system with the appropriate components and fixings.
The use of timber throughout complements the project's setting, with robust natural materials helping the structures sit comfortably within the surrounding woodland. The result is a carefully integrated public space that connects architecture, landscape and community use.
