IWS FR-Build

IWS FR-Build Fire mitigation during construction, is the market leading treatment used to attain compliance with HSE endorsed Structural Timber Association guidance on fire mitigation for timber frame (Purple).

The IWS FR-Build treatment is a water-based blend of synergistic Fire Retardant ingredients which was developed with only timber building fabric in mind. The treatment was designed for structural timbers and formulated to provide robust resistance to site construction fires. It’s an audited, factory produced, controlled treatment and does not contain halides (chlorides or bromides), metals, phosphates or volatile organic compounds.

  • Does not need to be kiln dried after treatment
  • Provides impregnation on all faces
  • Non-corrosive to metal fixing and fastenings
  • Lasts for lifetime of building
  • Available in a water repellent form
  • Excellent smoke and smoke toxicity characteristics
  • A highly concentrated liquid, requiring a single double-vacuum treatment only to give the desired FR properties
  • Designed for the treatment of timber frame construction timbers and formulated for specific fire scenarios for this end use
  • Does not contain halides (chlorides or bromides), metals, phosphates or volatile organic compounds
  • Neutral pH and non-corrosive to treatment plant components

Glenalmond Timber have tested timber treated with the IWS treatments and proven that the protection is consistently presented across all surfaces of the timber, even if the colour appears ‘patchy’. This can occur because colours bind to the timber very quickly and strongly, and can be filtered out of packs particularly if tightly packed. The naked formulation is clear and a tracer dye is added only for site recognition.

ULTRA joist

SUPER DRY, STAYS DRY; DIMENSIONALLY STABLE TIMBER

The ULTRA joist treatment process initially involves the careful pre-conditioning of our timbers to an average 12% – 14% moisture content over a period of 7 days to become “SUPER DRY“.

The timbers are then visually graded by trained personnel to ensure uniformity of straightness and appearance prior to formal machine grading and regularising to fine tolerances. The timbers are placed in our treatment vessels where a unique preservative formulation, incorporating a very effective water repellent, is applied using a proven double vacuum, low pressure treatment process.

The distinctive pale blue treated timbers not only have a high performance resistance to decay and insect attack, with a 60 year anticipated service life for internal building applications, but are also protected against water ingress.

This allows the ULTRA joist timbers to retain their strength and straightness both during and after the build process. It is a water based product containing ultimately biodegradable organic biocides and does not contain lindane or metal based biocides. Typical uses for ULTRA joist treated timber include timber frame rim joists, flooring joists and building timbers above damp proof course.

Vacsol Treated Timbers

VACSOL treated timber has been low pressure impregnated with VACSOL wood preservative, a Biocidal Products Regulation authorised water based product.

The low pressure treatment extends the service life of the timbers so that VACSOL treated timber is usually specified and used with real confidence for above DPC level interior construction timbers and external coated joinery applications where there is a low to medium risk of decay or insect attack – Use Classes 1, 2 and 3.1 (coated) in accordance with EN 335 – 1.
This makes VACSOL treated timbers the perfect high performance material for interior timber frame components, general roofing and building timbers and external coated joinery.

The colour of VACSOL treated timber is virtually unchanged, although a treatment colour indicator can be added if required.

Tanalith Treated Timbers

TANALITH pressure treated timber has been high pressure impregnated with TANALITH wood preservative, a Biocidal Products Regulation authorised water based product.

The high pressure treatment extends the service life of the timbers so that TANALITH treated timber is can be specified and used with real confidence for interior construction timbers and all exterior timbers, including ground contact applications, where there is a risk of decay or insect attack – Use Classes 1, 2 and 3.1 (coated), 3.2 (uncoated) and 4, in accordance with EN 335 – 1.

This makes TANALITH treated timbers the perfect high performance material for general construction timbers, fencing, decking and landscaping projects and even heavy duty engineering applications.

The initial colour of TANALITH treated timber is a pale green which slowly weathers to a honey brown and eventually to a silver grey. This weathering of the colour does not affect the long term preservative performance of the timbers.

Testimonials

Thank you – The help you gave us was truly amazing – you said yes to what seemed an impossible request in a heartbeat and what a difference it made – The house looked beautiful and we’re all so proud of what everyone achieved – the family were utterly overwhelmed by the sheer force of goodwill that everyone showed them

Gordon Whistance, In House Designer | BBC DIY SOS
Fraser we are really happy with the finish and look. Actually the Abodo cladding is main thing people remark and compliment about the house, we’ve certainly been spreading the word about you guys and the Abodo cladding.
Westley Dowdles, ABODO Customer

Just a short note of thanks, I received my order yesterday as planned. Derek was very helpful and cheery, as has everyone I spoke to in the company.
A pleasure to work with you and 5 star service.

Colin Gilmer, Happy Customer
It was an easy choice to move to using Glenalmond Timber’s floor joist system. It gives an improved specification for many aspects of the build, including acoustics, ease of installation, lack of bounce in the floor as well of course as cost effectiveness. A great all-round product, it’s a lot more than just a joist and the level of service from Fraser has been a joy. Whenever you deal with people such as that, the business process becomes a pleasure
Steven Streets, Technical Manager | Muir Group

The larch cladding we got from you is outstanding. We absolutely love the smooth riven effect. Thanks again for supplying the cladding

Adam Turner, Happy Customer
Thanks for the impromptu tour on Friday. I was very impressed with your set-up there, great to see yours and Martin’s enthusiasm for the business and getting quality products out into the market so we can build with quality materials
Angus MacDonald, Morgan Sindall
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for my order. We received it this morning and I am very impressed with the quality of the cladding and also how well it was all packaged. I would certainly recommend you to anyone who may be looking for cladding in the future.
