Abodo’s Vulcan timber is increasingly being used for timber windows and doors. A lightweight and fine finishing timber, Vulcan is made from thermally modified radiata pine, laminated into large sections for enhanced stability and performance. Why Choose Abodo Vulcan?
Vulcan timber is thermally modified (treated with heat and steam rather than chemicals), which means Vulcan Joinery has enhanced stability, reduced resin content, and is naturally durable so does not require any chemical preservatives.
These characteristics ensure no cupping or warping in exterior and interior applications.
Vulcan is made from full chain of custody, New Zealand radiata pine. A rapidly renewable timber, it’s an ideal replacement for old growth species such as Rosewood, Meranti and Western Red Cedar.

Vulcan is a harder (higher density) timber than Western Red Cedar and is increasingly finding use as exterior entrance doors. With a Durability Class 1 (EN350-1), Vulcan is designed to last and has excellent natural resistance to decay.
A lightweight timber, its superior thermal conductivity of ~0.12 W/(mK) is a distinct advantage for those designing passive houses and other high-performance buildings.
